Eugene “Gene” Gouaux III

Eugene “Gene” Gouaux III loves working with small business owners, using his combined background in law and accounting to help them with the legal aspects of growing their companies. Creating entities, document reviews, acquisitions, and complex contracts are all within his expertise. Gene is also passionate about guiding individuals and families with estate planning. As the father of two boys, he understands how important it is to plan for our children’s future.

In addition to practicing law, Gene has taught business law to over 5,000 students in four countries. The U.S. Department of State selected Gene as a Fulbright Specialist, a professional fellowship through which he has been invited to teach at Masaryk University Faculty of Law in the Czech Republic. His previous international experience includes teaching university and law students in Austria, China, and Vietnam.

Gene has served his local community as a board member of the Bayou Folklife and Heritage Museum in Lockport, Leadership Lafourche, and Thibodaux Mainstreet. He is an active member of the legal community, having served as president of the Lafourche Parish Bar Association and as a member of the Louisiana Bar Association House of Delegates. He’s an active alumnus of his undergraduate alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, having served on the Southern Miss Alumni Federation and as treasurer of the Southern Miss Foundation.

After graduating from Southern Miss with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Gene earned a master’s degree in accounting at LSU. He then completed law school at Southern University Law Center, serving as Articles Editor of the Southern University Law Review.
