OUR STORY

Our Story

Founded in 1949 by Eugene G. Gouaux, the Gouaux Law Firm has been serving the bayou for over 70 years. Mr. Gouaux was the attorney for the Town of Lockport for almost four decades, and his grandson, Gene III, now serves as Town Magistrate. In addition to practicing law, Gouaux served as a Louisiana state representative from 1956-1960, and was appointed by three different Governors to the Louisiana State Board of Trustees for Colleges and Universities, now the University of Louisiana System. He was instrumental in helping Nicholls State University achieve university status.

His son, Gene, Jr., joined the practice in 1980 after spending a year as a law clerk to the judges of the 17th Judicial District Court. Antoinette “Toni” Gouaux followed a couple of years later. When Gene joined his parents in 2011, he became the third generation to practice law in Lockport. As a family of lawyers, the Gouauxs understand the importance of community and service to it. They are guided by years of experience and a passion for their clients. Bubba, Toni, and Gene would be honored to help you and your families with your legal needs.
